Electric cars have been touted as the future of the automobile industry, and Cadillac is the latest brand to join the fray. The automaker unveiled its first electric car, the Cadillac Lyriq, in early 2022, and the battery-electric crossover is already turning heads in the industry. The 2024 Lyrid recently got announced and is expected to appease the brand's faithful, who wanted to ditch their SXR crossovers and DTS sedans and go green.
Notable Upgrades On the 2024 Lyriq
Here are the exciting upgrades on the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq:
Trim Levels
The 2024 Lyriq lineup seems more refined. Perhaps, it could be because Cadillac has fully learned the ropes of the EV market. Cadillac created three trims, the Tech, Luxury, and Sport trims.
The base Tech trim comes with an entry-level 340HP single-motor electric powertrain and a range of 308 miles. The mid-level Luxury trim offers superior performance and handling, while the highest-spec Sport trim has a more aggressive exterior that includes an eye-catching grille treatment and a darkened chrome trim.
EV Motor, Performance, and Power
Arguably, this is one area where the 2024 Lyriq lineup usurps its predecessor and other EVs in its range. A 340 HP electric motor on the rear axle is a standard feature across all trim levels. The 2024 Lyriq feels more responsive with superior acceleration and hits 60mph in 5.7 seconds. You can opt for the 500 HP dual-motor AWD powertrain for superior performance.
Once you hit the road, the Lyriq handles amazingly for a car of its size. The steering is impressively weighted to incredible handling performance. In addition, Cadillac used an aggressive regenerative braking system, which allows one-pedal driving. Lifting your foot off the accelerator slows down the vehicle quickly enough. The suspension is optimized to provide a comfortable ride, even on rough stretches.
Battery Capacity and Charging
Electric car manufacturers have been trying to outdo themselves in terms of range, battery life, and charging, and Cadillac isn't any different. Like its predecessor, the 2024 Lyriq comes equipped with GM's Ultium EV battery tech.
However, the new Lyriq has a superior capacity of 102kWh and a driving range of 308 miles per charge for the single-motor version and 307 miles per charge for the dual-motor model. DC fast charging is standard on all 2024 Cadillac Lyriq models, and the vehicles can be charged on home power outlets.
Interior Upgrades
At first sight, the 2024 Lyriq maintains its predecessor's upscale flair, but there are notable upgrades in the new lineup. Of note is the curved 33-inch LED touchscreen, which serves as the driver's gauge display and the infotainment system. If touchscreens aren't your thing, you can control the screen using a click wheel on the center console. A 19-speaker stereo system comes standard on all models.
Safety Upgrades
Cadillac endowed the 2024 Lyriq with a range of driver-assistance and safety features, including:
-
Adaptive cruise control with hands-free driving mode.
-
Standard lane-departing feature and lane-keeping assist.
-
Automatic emergency braking system with pedestrian detection.
For additional safety, you'll need to subscribe to Cadillac's Super Cruise hands-free driving system.
Upgrade to the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq
Judging by its striking looks, impressive driving dynamics, improved range, and superior handling, the 2024 Lyriq seems to be the harbinger of what's to come from the automaker. With the cutthroat competition witnessed in recent years, Cadillac is already way ahead of its rivals jostling for the lucrative EV market.
