Overview of the 2024 Cadillac Escalade

my23-escalade-gallery-modal-image-05.jpgThe Escalade might be one of the most recognizable SUVs on the road. Its distinctive style makes it stand out from other full-size SUVs and gives it an imposing look when you drive down the road. The 2024 Cadillac Escalade has three rows of seats and a strong lineup of engines, and it comes with the latest technology and safety features.

Performance and Fuel Economy

Most Escalade trims come with a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, but four-wheel drive is available as an option. If you drive an Escalade with this engine, you can expect to get 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway with rear-wheel drive.

A 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine is available as an option. It generates 277 horsepower and gets 460 lb-ft of torque. Choosing this powertrain will increase your fuel efficiency to 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway with rear-wheel drive.

The Escalade-V is the newest model in the lineup. It comes with a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine with 682 horsepower and 653 lb-ft of torque. This engine will get 11 mpg in the city and 16 mpg on the highway.

Specs and Design

The Escalade comes in several trim levels. The entry-level model is the Luxury. It has 22-inch wheels, a hands-free liftgate, dark-tinted privacy glass, and auto-leveling LED headlights. It also has chrome roof rails and illuminated door handles. Stepping up to the Premium Luxury adds a panoramic power sunroof and the option for the Touring Package, with adaptive air suspension and soft-close doors.

The Premium Luxury Platinum comes standard with the features from the Touring Package. You can also get the Sport, which features black exterior trim elements, a gloss black mesh grille, and 22-inch polished Dark Android Wheels. Next in the lineup is the Sport Platinum. It combines all the features of the Sport and the Premium Luxury Platinum.

The Escalade-V adds performance equipment, including a performance-tuned adaptive air suspension, Brembo high-performance brakes, and an upgraded 10-speed automatic transmission. It also has full-time all-wheel drive with a setup that can divide the torque between the front and rear axles to maximize grip.

Technology

There is no shortage of technology in the 2024 Cadillac Escalade, even at the entry-level. The Luxury trim comes with a large, curved OLED display screen with a 16.9-inch infotainment touch screen, a 14.2-inch instrument display screen, and a 7.2-inch control panel. The infotainment setup works with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite radio with a six-month trial subscription, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, HD radio, and the Cadillac Connected apps.

The navigation system in the Escalade is more than your average system. It has augmented reality features that can show a live image of what's in front of you in the instrument display. As for the stereo, the standard 19-speaker AKG studio system provides a crisp, clear sound, but if you step up to the Premium Luxury Platinum, you'll get a 36-speaker AKG stereo. This high-end trim also comes with a rear-seat entertainment system with two 12.6-inch display screens.

Comfort

You can't beat the comfort and convenience you'll find in the 2024 Cadillac Escalade. You'll enjoy the power-adjustable heated steering wheel, and your passengers will appreciate the tri-zone automatic climate control. All three rows come covered in faux-leather upholstery in the Luxury trim, but the Premium Luxury and, above all, include leather. These models also add heated and ventilated front seats. Additional standard features include heated second-row bucket seats, driver's seat memory settings, and a 60/40 split-folding third-row seat.

If you step up to the Premium Luxury Platinum, you'll get massaging front seats with 16-way power adjustments, including five settings for the power lumbar massage. This trim also has soft-close doors, a leather-wrapped front console, and a suede headliner.

Safety Features

A full suite of advanced safety systems comes with every Cadillac Escalade. It includes systems such as automatic vehicle hold, hill-start assist, and a hitch guidance system to make it easier and safer to hook up to a trailer.

Cadillac's Smart System is a suite of advanced driver aids. This group of systems includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and a Safety Alert driver's seat. It also includes a rear seat reminder, a rearview camera, and the Teen Driver system that allows the primary driver to set limits for young drivers. Rear-parking assist is also included.

The Premium Luxury adds to this already impressive list with an automated parking system, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, and rear automatic braking. This will automatically apply the brakes if it senses an imminent collision with something behind the Escalade.

GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving technology is available as an option for some trims. It allows you to let the vehicle take over the acceleration, steering, and braking as long as you keep paying attention to the road.
