Electric vehicle being charged at a charging station
If you have an electric vehicle (EV) in the Venice, Florida, area, you'll be pleased to know there are several places to charge your battery. With most of these locations, you can entertain yourself while waiting to fully charge your vehicle and get on the road again. Our team at Sunset Cadillac of Venice compiled this list of EV charging stations so you don't have to do the research yourself.

What Is an EV and Why Should I Drive One?

An EV is a type of car, SUV, truck, or minivan that uses no gasoline or diesel and is powered by one or two electric motors. The motors get power from specialized EV batteries located within the vehicle. Most major automakers now offer an EV in their lineup, including Cadillac. The three EVs Cadillac makes are the CELESTIQ hatchback, the LYRIQ SUV, and the full-size ESCALADE IQ SUV.

People buy EVs because they have zero emissions, use no fossil fuels, and have a lower carbon footprint. As you won't be buying fuel at a gas station, you'll save money on fuel. And as electric motors have fewer moving parts and never require oil changes, you'll also save money on maintenance and service. Depending on the state and local regulations, you may even get tax credits for driving an EV.

How Do I Charge My EV?

You can use at-home charging systems that our staff can help you set up and explain how to use, or you can utilize various public charging stations. Using a public charging station beyond charging your EV at home helps extend your driving range. Most public EV charging stations use DC fast charging systems that provide about 10 to 20 miles of driving range per minute. To charge your EV, find the location of the charging port on your vehicle, and follow the instructions provided both in your vehicle's owners manual and at the public charging station.

There are several local places in the Venice area where you can charge your EV.
